rambler workshops

As of January 2026, Lawson and Paige Lynn began hosting film student workshops at Loyola University Chicago. Scheduled every other week, participating film students will engage in an intensive student organization in which they follow a step-by-step process of developing and producing films. Beginning with story development and screenwriting, students will expand their knowledge and skills in film analysis, pitching, crew building, fundraising & budgeting, location scouting, cinematography, sound mixing, and post-production. Further, specific workshops on principal crew roles, including 1st & 2nd AD's, Script Supervisor, and Line Producer, will take place throughout the semester.

Lawson and Paige are collaborating with graduate students, film faculty, and are connecting with industry professionals and equipment rental houses to develop high-quality lesson plans for the organization meetings. The objective is to create a stronger and more collaborative film community at Loyola, guided by collaboration, creativity, and passion.

At the final workshop of the semester, special guests and Chicago filmmakers Nilüfer Lily Kaya and Imaan Hasan joined Lawson and Paige to lead a workshop on producing. This was the most successful workshop yet, bringing in more students and connecting undergraduate filmmakers with Loyola alumni working in the industry in Chicago.

January through April served as the first trial run of the organization, which has been a massive success. After the first semester of workshops, Lawson and Paige are continuing to collaborate with students and faculty to enhance the workshops, and select more students to begin hosting workshops in their place after graduation in 2027.

Lawson has recently joined the Loyola School of Communication Technology Committee, serving as the only student voice on the team. After meeting with students and multiple film faculty members, he has put together a list of equipment and ideas from students and film faculty who aren't heard by the board and will be bringing it to the next meeting in April.

collaboration film student liaison

Paired with Lawson and Paige's creation of Rambler Workshops, they have also created an unpaid student role, titled Collaboration Film Student Liaison(s). Three students each year will serve as student advisors for the three respective films made under the Collaboration Film Project at Loyola. Starting at the end of April, Lawson, Paige, and one other student will begin this role, assisting the upcoming student filmmakers awarded with the Collaboration Film Project scripts.
